I have a 65' GT and all I know about the gears is that they're low. I would like to get better gears for it; it already has good acceleration but I was wondering what kind of gears would give me some good acceleration but also a higher top speed. I don't care about gas mileage because I drive with the pedal to the floor everywhere I go anyway. So what would you guys recommend?

 

3.55 will get what you are after, but they will also be ok for highway driveability

Yeah, 355 to 375. If you go to 410's you will be revving very high at 70 MPH, but will have a screamer off the line.

 

Before you decide on a new ratio, you need to know what you have now so you have a starting point. If you want a higher top speed, you'll need to go with a numerically lower ratio. If you want a better hole shot, you'll need to go with a numerically higher ratio.

 

Go with the 3.25-3.55, Also, You have a HIGH gear. The lower the number, the higher the gear. The higher the number like 4.11 for example is a low gear. You have a high gear.
