could it be throltte linkage could be getting stuck ? maybe try wd 40 on the connections.....i would try that.....check your tanny fulid....could be low, causing you to increase rpms to move...... could be the rear end fulid is all gunked up....

when you're you driving at 20 mph or so.....and you give it gas...does it accelerate, or do you have to have the gas pedal all the way down the whole time.

Did this problem just start ? did you buy it alreadly like this ? or what.......

doubt it would be linkage getting stuck. if it was stuck idle ud feel a pop when u slammed the gas and otherwise ud DEFINITELY know it was stuck cuz ud take your foot off and the car would continue going.

tranny....maybe, very much doubt it. if u hear the car accelerating and not going ne where then the tranny or the torque converter is the colprit.

again....check electrical and fuel flows

well i just had the tranny rebuilt about a month ago so i dont thing it should be that unless they did something wrong...the bad thing is that i have nothing to compare it with cause when i bouht it the tranny was already shot.

i had the same probleen when I got my car. It was "wrong air" getting into the carb (too lean).
Basically a hose connected to the carb ending in nowhere wasn't blocked.
On the same the vacuum hose going to the distributor. If the vacuum advcane doesn't work anymore (isn't sealed anymore) it'll pull air there.

All in all had same probelm when running far too lean
