Evil why don't you elaborate a little beyond "free will" since you obviously have the answer

ORIGINAL: ih8chevy

im calling bs on this there is no way that a vette weighs that little, they came stock over 3400 lbs, now maybe u meant 3200, but still its a fast car.
I wouldn't be shocked if it only weighed that much. The early Mustangs didn't weigh much more than that and they obviously have a much bigger body. With the LS6 I'd put it at more than 2200lbs but definitely not 3400...

Better gas mileage and it's more reliable. Modern cars are much safer than our 40 year old cars and carburetors just plain suck.

Yes the new engines can obviously be faster than carbed engines but they don't "just plain suck". They're much cheeper and in most cases easier to work on. The gas mileage on a 5.4 isn't a whole lot better than my 289 either and def not on the 200.

It's no fun trying to start a carbed car when the temperature is below 50*. It takes a few times to start and when you do get it started you have to sit there and let it warm up for 5 minutes so it doesn't die when you put it in gear.

Under the same conditions my FI 5.0 will start up first try and I just have to sit there long enough to turn on the radio and put on my seat belt before I put it in gear and drive off.

Also, my bolt on aod 5.0 with 4.10's gets better gas mileage than my friends completely stock c4 289 mustang.

Given to man and Mustang enthusiast alike, the ability to make decisionson such important matters such as what color, what rims, what doo-dads to, how loud, do we upset the wife or hubby, and if we wantmodulize our steed in such afashion as toobtain the obverse thoughts of others. Orhold the simple path of life and just bolton acarb.

A great American once said, "My lug nuts have more torque that your Honda".

I spent 6 months last year removing my old motor and replacing with an EFI 5.0, T-5, and all the brackets and frackets to make it work. It's not about being more efficient..or driveable, or reliable....

For those that do it themselves, it's about the act of doing it. The challange of the task. The mechanics and the knowledge of how the fuel system works, the computer and electronics systems work.

I get bored driving the car. The hobby, for some, is the engineering of the car.

I will agree with you that FI enginesare better when it comes to some of the "finer" points of drivability, but there is just somthing about crusing in a car with a noisy, pushrod, carbed engine, with a cam big enough that it just wont idle right. For me this is the coolest.

Ilike itwhen the engine sputters and shakes when its cold out. (if the carb is set right it should have to be quite a bit less than 50 degrees out for this effect).

Computer controled cars are kinda cool, untill they stop working right, then this can be a battle to get right, and sometimes a problem like this can can involve more than 1 trip behind a tow truck untill someone figures it out. I know that these computer controlled cars are set up to "self diagnose", but I also know that this does not always work.

When I built my sons truck, I started with a modified stock fuel injection setup, and it worked great, but the truck is a mild hot rod and it was missing somthing, it now has a carb and a HEI unit, and I love to hear it start in the morning.[:@]

Don't get me wrong, I like fuel injected cars. They are great for what they do, and I know that they can do a lot. FI is for sure the wave of the future, hell my boys who are 17 and 20 didn't know what a carburator was not so long ago.

I just dont think I would ever attempt another hot rod project using fuel injection, it just dosent "feel right " to me, but this is just my opinion, and I admit that I am very opinionated.

jamesw your was a bolt in and still the same basic set up reworking the front half of the car for a smaller engine with more things to break on it makes no sence to me 4.6 is a 281 5.4 is a 320 and both have a mile long list of problems look at recalls and tech bulletins. and whoever said about the corvettes a lt1 lt4 or ls1 are just a fancy 350 and you dont have to subframe the car to get it in
