something i dont understand
After read this thread i thought about new engine in classic stang and personally i think you should try and keep them period correct myself but if you want a technical mechanical challenge stick a hybridengine from the lexus in there. That will be a challenge that nobodies done yet. I don't care about it being a toyota engine it probably has more in come with the 4.6 modulars than they do to the windsor and clevelands.
[sm=insomnia.gif][sm=nono.gif][sm=noooo.gif] You can't put a non FORD motor in a Mustang. I don't care what you puy in the car as long as it has ford casting on it. Lots of options http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Ford_engines. Just my opinion....

5k for a used junkyard engine and probably another 5k to get it in a older mustang and running and yes you can build a 800hp small block ford its been done look at drag racing my point of starting this was to understand why cut the car almost in half to put in a smaller ci engine with over head cams and alot of wiring

Too much "Motor Trend" when I was a kid I guess, (Of course in Moror Trend a car aint a car unless it is set up for good "heel and toe braking"), hey I didn't know any better. Now I am a man, give me American iron V-8 with a pushrod engine and I am a happy guy.
Of course folks like you and I will soon fall victim to those whoes best tuning tool is a lap top computer. Oh well, the best defense is a good offense in this instance. I will not be beaten down by a rice burner or a DOHC engine of any brand, not in my town anyway.

Maybe you should read this so you can see what happens to a stock sbf when you push it past 500rwhp.
http://www.turbomustangs.com/techart...stockblock.php
And yes, I know that early 351w blocks and 302 mexican blocks are stonger than the newer ones but they will not last at 800rwhp. Whether it's an old car or a new car, at 800rwhp you will have to dish out $2K for a Dart block.
Good point, seems like thats the breakin point of a stock sbf block. I have an R-302 setup that was built to spin. However, it is limitedto 8K by the 6AL and falls way shy of the 500HP mark.Beingcurious, whats are the safe limits for a stock 4.6-5.4 modular block?

As I said to me a 4.6l mod has more in commen with a lexus hybrid than a 289 and by all means make it it a ford if they make a hybrid. My point was people were saying the technical challenge was a reason for putting in a new engine so my point is do something really new not a straight foward mod as a modular in classic is you want to push the evelope puch it don't just try and steam the glue
