How well does a Ranger axel fit into a classic Stang like a '65. I know there will be different mounts and a couple other things, but I'm moreconcerend about length.

 

I thought about doing that before mostly because I love how well my 96 ranger locks into posi. But have now heard and seen some bad things about the 8.8s. so its not for me. But I did compare length to my 66 stang the ranger rear is only 1 to 1.5 inches wider so it could work with all the mods you mention.

 

What bad things have you heard about the 8.8? It is supposed to be one of the best for light to mid level work. Is it the c-clips?

Watch out for the ranger axles I beleive they are 28 spline and not the 31.

Yes, I believe your right. But most people who are after the 8.8 for its strength go for the 31. Also I don’t think that the ranger axle ever came with disk brakes, if that is desirable to you.

 

How much could a stock axle support? And can the be built, or should I look for a 9"
