Default valves?

hey guys a tech question for yall who are knowledgeable in the oldness,
ive been readin up on some new car stuff, and from what ive heard the more "valves" you have the more power? like i know the new mustang gt is a 281 CID 3vavle, does this mean 3 valves per clyinder? what do these valves do? where do they go? is this for combustion/intake stuff? how many "valves" does my 289 have? sorry if this is a retarded question. Default RE: valves?

the 289 has 2 valves the new 4.6 3v has 2 intake and one exhaust valve

the valves are the on off switches for the air fuel mixture

yup and believe it or not 4 valves per cyl is even better and the combustion chamber it forms called the pentroof is more efficient than that of the famed Hemi but i mean depending on your engine you can have all sorts of combos my yamaha has 5 titanium valves three intake two exhaust
