Work, work, fun, fun!
Today was the first day in almost a month that I got to play with the '65 Mustang.
Items removed:
Gas tank,Fuel line, Fuel pump & line to carb, Exhaust manifolds & rusted exhaust single exhaust system (Thank God for PB Blaster!).
Wire brushed the area where the tank sits. Prepped and painted it.
Replaced:
New gas line & gas tank, fuel pump & line to fuel pump.
That was a great day. Probably won't be able to get to the exhaust system until 2-3 weeks from now as the work schedule is ultra busy now.
Hey - here's a question that needs answering...
The headers dump to a 3 bolt collector that is 2.5" - the stainless exhaust system has pipes that are 2.5" also... I need to get a collector piece that joins the two. So what I am ASSUMING that it is a collector that is 2.5" at the header and ??? how big at the pipe. Obviously it will need to slide into the pipe so is it 2.25" or what? (Is this something that inner and outer diameter comes into play when making measurements?) Totally confused...clear as mud??

Sounds like a lot of work today.
The header "reducer" is what connects the header collector to the pipe. My headers came with a 3" to 2.5" reducer, then I bought a pipe extension (pepboys) to go from the 2.5" to 2" for my pipes ($2.99). Ifyour H-pipe or pipe extension is pre-bent, I bet is already stretched at the end to slip over your 2.5" header reducer.

Well the header collector diameter is 2.5" and the exhaust system are also 2.5" pipes so what I am seeing is that the pipes are the same size from the collector on back. I guess I would need is something that sleeves into the 2.5" exhaust system.
I'll check one of the local parts places tomorrow and take the parts with me. Might get lucky with some stock they have on the shelf.
