Exhaust Exit Poll HELP!!
I choose the 3 inch because my ceramic coated headers have a 3 inch exit. I do want to besocially unacceptable i and just trying to decide between the single chamber and original 40. If need a fix testy fix I just use my pilots liscence :-)
loud noise it not everything, a rumble is the way to go. Of coarse like grruminator78 anything is better then the noise of a ricer, i want my stang to sound like it could eat em.

I'm ASSuming that you mean when you put turndowns right on the back of the muffler. If you mean turndowns exiting right at the bottom of the rear valence, then that has not been the case in my experience.

YES you'll get exhaust in the car with turndowns and you'll also get a big mess too.

Asstated elsewhere on this thread, these huge pipes will probably cost you some torque. Even if I am wrong in this regard, you might want to consider comprimising on the three inch exhaust for the sake of streetability.Just my thoughts, it just sucks whena car drags.
Get the 3"...just make sure you avoid speedbumps, potholes, and train tracks at all costs anywhere over 5mph
. Soaring is right, get a rumble but don't be obnoxious, that takes away from the car. I think 2.5" with turndown tips behind the valance is the way to go.

You will be fine with 3" and you will need all of it. The only time I've ever had any exhuast fumes in my car is on a cold start every now and then. And as far as loudness... ya I love it!!!
So do all the chicks I pick up!!!! Then again I'm 19 and in college...

YeahI am sureI will be fine with a 3 inch. It is a 408 and my rpm range is 2500-6800 rpm on the camshaft with a 3 grand stall. Thatgood amountof air.I am not worried about speed bumps hence they are "speed bumps" and you'renot suppsoded to fly over them in any car. thanks superdavid good to hear from someone who has a 408.
Rear exit.
2.5" pipe with an "X" pipe sort of crossover.
Sharing the exhaust flow betweenboth 2.5" mufflers will more than make up any difference between 2.5" and 3" separate systems, and the "X" is far better than a traditional "H" crossover at making this happen. In addition, it will take just a little of the edge off thenoise because the flows will be more uniform,so you won't feel like you're sitting on pins and needles every time you happen to end up sitting beside or just ahead of a cop at a traffic light. And you'll be more relaxed after any long trips if the noise is dialed back a tad.
