Got my mustang!!!!!
If you raise the rear end up, do it with new springs. Using long shackles can make the car very squirrely to drive, they may not be up to the job of any hard cornering that you might do, and their extra length will put more load into the frame member where they attach. Your axle will move around more, especially laterally (perhaps enough to cause tire rubbing). Years ago, a friend of mine had that done to his '67 by the local Ford dealership - and it just about ruined the enjoyment of driving that car.

I may try to keep it stock height, I don't know yet! So exciting. Anyway, I looked over the reciepts for what I thought was the purchase of a new engine and rebuild. But the receipt said "these parts purchased are for a '68 ford mustang" and the list had a main charge of $500 and then about $1200 in misc services and parts. I just figured they bought a '68 block fo rthe $500 and rebuilt it. But my dad pointed out that the shop may have just misnamed the car as a '68 and merely rebuilt the original motor. So I haven't ruled out numbers matching yet. I wouldn't mind either way, it's just fund to find out.
It is a '66 coupe, about as plentiful as it gets. Don't sweat the numbers matching or original engine issue ... it doesn't really add or detract from the value and enjoyment of your vehicle. It looks like you have a nice car that should bring you a lot of joy ... and frustration sometimes too as they often do.
Congrats!

Congrats!
Great Car!!! One thing to consider for raising the back a little is we just added 1 addition leaf to the stock rear springs and it removed the sag out of the rear and still looks stock. I wouldn't put shackles to raise it as they look very cheezy in my opinion.
I hope this helps,

Yeah man, I agree with the fellas, don't be concerned if the engine numbers matches the rest or not. Who cares? As long as it runs good, that's all it matters.
Now go have some fun and DRIVE!!!

Hell yeah, guys! I love this car and I don't know about the numbers even. You know what is so much fun? I've been dreaming and rambling about getting a mustang for a couple years now to all my friends, and now that I finally got one, I've been having some fun surprising them as I drive up in one! It really is an amazing time. I hope this initial euphoria doesn't go away anytime soon. This weekend I'm gonna tackle some of the things on my list. I went to Bel-Kirk Mustang here in seattle and I just today realized how expensive some of these mustang shops can be! I spent $55 on an inspection plate and two bolts, valve cover gaskets, and two plastic bushings for my shifter!
