does your valve cover have a baffles and do you have roller rockers
My Cobra covers have baffles which I dimpled to allow the use of Sig Erson full roller rockers. These arerounded on the corners and can be used without tall covers or spacers if you dimple the baffle! Plus nobody will be able to tell by looking at your engine.

My 65 289 has what looks like very coarse steel wool stuffed into the oil filler cap. If that is where it is coming out, then get most coarse steel wool you can find and stuff it in there. That will keep the oil from blowing out and still allow the engine to breathe.

Won't the steel wool clog over time?

Yes it will. You need to wash it out with gas or kerosene each time you change the oil to keep it clean.
This sounds like blow by though. I would have a leak down and compression test performed. That engine may be inneed ofa new pair of shoes.

Without PCV, you will get some oil film on your valve covers. That's pretty much the only real problem. If you plug both holes, you'll build pressure inside the engine until something lets go with a bang.

Some racers will use the exhaust to pull the vacuum, to keep the tune consistant.

Yes i have roller rockers and no it doesnt have baffels, just an inch hole with a cap that has a spongey thinginside it. One side is pluged, i think thats causing it to shoot out the other side( as mentioned above) Oh and btw, the rings/ hone job have just under 2k miles on them. The headgaskets etc every seal and other parts on the engine have less than 50 miles on them, so its not a "worn" issue -Jon

Contrary to what anyone says here, if you are expelling oil from an engine that does not have an efficient crankcase ventilation, it is not(necasarily) a sign of a worn engine. ANY engine without an efficient ventilation method will expell oil and gasses period. I highly recomend an active method of crankcase ventilation, use a PCV setup.
