What's with the jack stands on all four corners? I never jack up the car to change the oil. Just reach under with a wrench and get the drain pan in place.

I think what he meant was in order to thoroughly inspect the undercarriage, you need to jack the car up so you can crawl under there. I never jack it up just to change the oil either.

I got the ramps from NAPA. I built pre ramps from wood that allow me to drive up on the NAPA ramps it makes the angel a lot less steep which makes driving up easy plus if I dont have the pre ramps the car his the NAPA ramps before the wheels do.

I just make sure its in park and the E brake is set and I have tire chalks under both back wheels.

They were like 40 bucks but give me enough room to inspect the belly and do work I really think they are handy.

The lube technician couln't get the hood open
...and there is a prime example why you should change your own oil. And $40 to change your oil and you bought your own filter!?!?! Buy yourself a set of ramps; easier than jacking the thing up (I didn't jack mine up to change the oil either, the ramps just make it so easy)...but if you own a classic Mustang you will need a jack and jackstands eventually so they are worth purchasing.

Here is a good DIY instruction for doing your own oil change.
