proportion valve
does it matter where on the line going to the rear brakes you put it? i have my rear line leaving my master cylinder and going directly into the proportioning valve. or should it be mounted towards the rear of the car?

Never install a proportioning valve in any way that would affect the front brakes. The result would be to make your car rear-biased before you could say “brake pressure regulating valves.†Front brake-line pressure should always be left alone—only the rear pressures should be considered for proportioning. Get an adjustable valve, and mount it right below your MC.

To clear things up, the 64-66 distribution block is merely a "tee" to split the pressure to the front brake lines. The rear is split on the axle at the rubber line. Later model Fords use a distribution block which has a built-in proportioning valve for the rear valve, a tee for the front and a pressure switch that'll show loss of pressure in one of the lines.
If you're doing the Granada swap with a dual reservoir MC, run the rear line on the MC to the "tee" for the front brake lines. For the rear, do like Soaring said, run a single line from the front hole of the MC to an adjustable pressure valve then to the line to the rear.
You can try picking up a distribution block from a Granada and plumb straight into it. Go to Mustang Steve's FAQ and you'll see all the info you need.
[edit] Soaring's point should be emphasized, you never want the rear wheels to lock up before the front ... unless you like the rear coming around on you.

Thanks for clearing that up Jeff. I have had the rear of some cars lock up before the front, and they came around on me and damn near turned me over before I could get them stopped. And that was usually in the ditch. I haven't had that problem with my 65 because I have the rear brakes a tad looser than the front shoes. I really need to get disks for the front. Maybe next month...........
Ok, so for my 67 with Granada swap and dual MC, the rear hole in the MC runs to the T in the distribution for the front brakes, and the front hole runs to the por valve, then back to the axle?
