As has been posted on other threads, a 450 carb is about the biggest you want with the stock cam. To really take advantage of the mods you've already made, you need to get a more agressive cam in there. Then you will see a big improvement in hp.

By the way, I know I've heard this before, but I can't remember. How are the reported hp and torque numbers measured now? I know on these classics they were measured at the flywheel with no accessories, but I can't remember the testing proceedure for measuring hp and torque numbers now. On the last episode of Top Gear, they took a shot at the Shelby GT500 after putting it on a dyno and measuring "only" 453 rwhp. Frankly,I was surprised it was that high. That means only a 10% loss in the drivetrain from the 500 hp rating correct? Maybe they should have put a Ferrari or a "1,001 hp" Bugatti Veyron on a dyno andthen broadcastwhat they came up with.

another 3 percent of what the total was for him. it goes 15 percent loss for manual 18 percent loss for auto.

Yeah, at least that much. It depends on the condition of the moving parts. If the tranny is slipping and the rear is worn expect an increase in power lost to the rear tires.

If I want to cruise, I jump in the 65, but when I want to get my kicks, I jump in the Mach.
thats funny, cause......

If I want to cruise, I jump in my 06 GT, but when I want to get my kicks, I jump in the II

well...a cam is in the line up for sure and its probably gonna be a comp cam with about .520 lift....and about a 110 lobe sep...its gonna go just right with what i have and is gonna sound mean...i just dont wanna install it till i have the afr's....i'm shooting for at least 300 rwhp....i'll definatley keep you allposted...i guess 190rwhp aint too bad then...

i read somewhere that the initial timing on a c-code 289 was 6 degrees and for an A-code 289 it was 6-8 degrees...i ran mine at 12 degrees....i think i had too much timing...i always thought it was 10 degrees stock...hmm, that may have hurt me on the dyno too...
