Saving a buck is great, but I wouldn't go low buck on an NOS setup. My brother had a shop install nitrous in his '66 vert (against my father's and my advice) and they put no safety devices with it. Essentially, it had an on/off toggle switch and a button on the floor that would activate it on WOT.

I wouldn't run one without at least having a min/max rev switch as well as fuel pressure. His backfired and took out both head gaskets. He was lucky!

It is sitting in my garage with only one run on it, for sell cheap!
