Vibration
I know that without driving or seeing the car, this is a pretty difficult question for someone to answer, but I've got a vibration and I'm trying to figure out where to start. At about 40 MPH I have a vibration that I can definitely feel in my steering wheel. It makes my tach (mounted to steering wheel) jump up and down pretty rapidly. At faster speeds it tends to decrease in intensity, but becomes faster. It mostly makes my rearview mirror blur out. It seems that at lower speeds (<20) I can feel a little bounce like maybe a tire is out of round or something, but all my tires appear to be wearing evenly. Does this sound like a tire/wheel issue or something else? I know I have a little slack in the rearend and I will be getting a rebuild there in the future, but could this be causing the issue, as well?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Based on your description of your problem, I would give odd's on the u-joint being you issue.
I would for sure check the joints, they can be nasty when one drops.

I'm with Gun...wheel balance.
if it were drive shaft or axle related you would more likely feel it thru the seat rather than the steering wheel

I could be wrong,,, but I have a hunch.....
You probably are right, but I would still check the u-joints.
Just had the u-joints replaced a couple of months ago. The last time I was under there, they looked to be in good shape. As with anything like this, though, I'm having a hard time remembering what the car was like before the u-joint replacement. I didn't drive it much then. I think I'm going to take it in and have the balance checked on all the tires. That's an easy check and can rule out a possibility pretty quickly.
