Default Top loader progress

Following on my previous post:I now have taken out the transmission, bell housing, pressure plate and clutch ... so far the main findings are:
1 - Pressure plate and clutch were remanufactured by CPR - I do not know how long ago
2 - Inside of bell housing is really really dirty - there is an opening at the top, does someone know what it is for (see picture)
3 - Shafts of the top loader are in good shape, for the gears I will likely bring it to a shop to get it inspected
4- Throw out bearing looks in good shape as well

Besides the transmission inspection, any recommendations as how I should move forward? I was kind of thinking new clutch +new pressure plate, and potentially resurfacing the fly wheel since I'm at it ...

Please check out the pictures and let me know your thoughts

Thanks
