Has nothing to do with breaking them loose.Kickdown is strictly for that time when youre in 3rd and you stop on it,it drops into 2nd.Tires lights up more in L cuz its locked in L more torque. But kickdown has absolutely nothing to do with it

Thats cuz the lowere gear of 1st makes up for the terrible 2.78's in the rear.

ok thanks for the advice guys. i dont do that much highway driving but am planning on som roadtrips in the stang so im pretty sure im going to need the aod. i drove it 170 miles to drive it back to my house from where i got it and i think it got around 14mpg which isnt too bad considering that i was doing about 70mph and i was climbing in elevation about 4k feet.

Maybe because your starting off in the wrong gear? the car is supposed to take off in 1st...... From a stand still, when you floor it, it's going to be in first. You are putting the selector in the GREEN DOT, right?

It should start out in the highest gear, which is 1st. Then shift to second. If it's starting in second and shifting to 1st when you punch it, something is wrong.
