Default 66 Mustang restore

Hello All,

I just bought my first mustang (66 coupe) and it has a 289. I am interested in making this a daily driver. It seems that most of the post on this site are about upgrading the hp and speed. I am wondering what are the basic mods I need to make so that this will be a great daily driver. I put together this list and the order I plan on completing them:

1. Rebuild engine (also put in new igintion, carb, and distrb)
2. Convert front brakes to disc
3. Suspension
4. Transmission
5. Paint
6. Uplohstery and cd player

I am sure this will take some time (more than a year). Does this list look good and can anyone recommend anything else I should do are what parts are best.

Thank you for you time.

Jay

Yea that list is damn near the same as mine was a couple months ago and i'm near completion. It all looks good. Get the brakes and other mechanical things done first if your on budget so at least it is drivable.

So fare it sounds like your looking good. Although I would look into getting more items to make it a safer daily driver. Like a Fuel cell, a Fire wall divider, and maybe some wider tires to make it handle better.

Also good parts to go for is Mustangunlimited.com, I have got tons of stuff from them and it's the best deals and top notch stuff.

Sounds like you're on the right track. I would add 3 point seat belts and a rear firewall divider in the trunk.

Another first thing to do is to put in a dual exhaust system if it doesn't already have one. While you are at it, put in an "X" pipe. There are many mufflers on the market. It depends on the type of sound you want. I put on Ravins because I like a rumble at idle, but quiet at highway speeds.
