Quad webers
Ok the story is this my car is an a code with a 302 2vinand once i get the other things done, suspension and bodyI want to go back to a 4v carb (spending next years bonus). My question (loaded btw) is should I go:
a) autolite 4100; is it worth buying through pony carbs or getting a champion re-manufactured with stock style intake or different intake suggestions welcome, I am favour peroid correct (soaring must be proud)
b) After market carb 4vI favour a demon (being not the norm) not sure of the intake yet.
c) stay with the 2v to get in the principle of carbs (this is my first carbed car)and then go quad webber which I think 1) look great 2) a bit different (which i like)and would like info from weber users this is ultimate what i want other than maybe supercharged.
cheers

I would absolutely love to have quad Webers on my car, but I would have to do a lot of other things like new pistons, heads, etc,.And, I would have to tune those suckers every time I cranked it up. I had dual carbs on my Corvair Monza back in the 60's, and it was a constant battle to keep those carbs in tune with each other.
As far as the 4100, you will be miles ahead if you order from Pony Carbs. But, if you want to save a few Irish green backs, then just get a used 4100 and rebuild it yourself. I wouldn't recommend any other carburetor for an engine using a 600 or under cfm carb.

+1 unless its a race car quad webers are really just a hassle and they are not as efficient crusing as they are at high speeds because they need alot of airflow coming in to em and if air isnt really circulating fast they tend to build a heat barrier between the stacks and the hood, never used em but this is what im told, i have a friend who has a cobra kit car i built his motor for and he took the 4150 off and put stacks webers on his 289, has a holman moody manifold and got the webers from inglese, but he uses the cobra as an open track comp car and he says they are a pain to tune even if your used to it...i prefer a holley 4150 its just good and reliable like the 4100
good to know, i must admit the tuning would be a pita, I am not convicied a pony carbs 4100 is worth $500 + compared to a champion rebuild from autozone which is $200 that a hellolot of green backs
i wish i could get a junkyard 4100 in the netherlands!!! I really couldn't see the 300 bucks being worth it that is a hell alot of cash for basically the same product.
I have had three rebuilds from Pony Carbs and would do it again. What you are paying for is the quality of the rebuild, the new (mostly) hardware and the test that they do to all rebuilds. What comes from an auto parts store is re-built on an assembly line with a minimum of effort and quality.
