Nightmare
I feel your pain, I recomend that you carefully read your Bill of Lading, looking carefully at the "claims" section, and dispute resolution section. I hope that you purchased additional valuation for your vehicle.
If you do not have additional valuation, you may have a difficult time recovering your damages. If no additional valuation hasbeen purchased, you have probably agreed to "share the liability" with the carrier in regard to damage to your vehicle, with the carrier only assuming a small portion of the liability.
If this is the case, don't waste your money on a lawyer, you will be lucky to find a lawyer who will even accept your case. If you have not purchased additional valuation, your best bet for reimbursment will be through your auto insurance company, if you have comp.
Sorry to say this but you will more than likely find thatmost, if not all, of the infostated above is going to be the reality of your situation.
I recomend that no one ever ship anything through an internet company or a broker, in general you will get better results by dealing directly with a carrier. "Brokers" and "internet companies"often offer nothing to the consumer greater thananother layer of red red tape to negotiate in the event of problems.
Additionally, many of these companies are often fly by night operations, here today, and gone tomorow, who have little regard for the customer and the degree of service that their customers receive. This is certainly not always the case, but,,, anyway I hope your broker can help you since they have your money.

If it was me, there would have been a trail of tire rubber about a 1/2 mile long. It would have ended at their truck. Then at that location you would have been able to find lots of winshield glass on the asphalt. It would be all over the place, except where the now flattenned tires were resting. The stream of anti freeze that was gushing from their now mashed radiator would add an aroma to the evening air. But thats me!

Sorry to hear about your experience. When shipping an old Mustang, try to find a shipper that ships with straps holding the face of the tireat all four wheels. Otherwise the shippers use chains or in this case straps to grab the frame and pull it down trying to compress the suspension. Old frames can and will bend or rip. For anyone shipping cars from Southern California to North Carolina and points in between I used DeMoise and they were fantastic (enclosed too). Perhaps this will save somebody else a problem.

Well I have some good news. I got the radiator in the car drive it around a few miles tonight. It is running good and no leaks. I am still going to take it to a shop that specializes in classic mustings to get theie opinion. Does any one have any suggestions on a shop in the houston area?

I am not going to put the car on a jack, in reverse, with a brick on the gas!
I am in a little better mood since I drive the car. It lease my stomach is not in knots anymore. The shhipping broker called me also this evening and told me that they were going to cover any and all damages. I just need to get a few quotes for the work. I will let you all know how that turns out.
On a side note while I had the old radiator out of the car I still could not get the siece of strap out of the car. It is weges in the frame rails tight. Its still there flapping in the wind. It is not interferring with the fan or belts thought.

Sorry to hear about your mishap. Nothing worse than a violated mustang. It's almost like your girlfriend being raped or something. Well, maybe not so bad. It's good you stood your ground. Cut the strap as close to the frame as possible and use a torch to melt it out if it won't damage the paint.
