I got posi last year. The original rearend had finally started to make a little noise. It never leaked and I never had it serviced because I wanted an excuse to get posi. Now that I've got posi, I had to relearn how to drive the car a little because I always drive it like I stole it, but it's way more fun. I highly recommend the changeover. Still has drum brakes in the back, though.

So if I have an 8 inch open rear end today (stock) in my 67, what do I need to go to a 9 inch posi? Is this literally all I need, or do you have to get into axles, Universals, etc..?

Judging by your pic, your running a 69 stang? The 67 and later are much more common and interchangeble, so finding a replacement limited slip shouldn't be a problem. Not gonna bore you with details, but once you put in your firstgood limited-slip and gears, you'll never be the same. Night and day difference! I personally believe the two items most overlooked in performance, are the tranny and rear end. Without a good drivetrain, you don't have S@*^.

I agree. I broke my 8" a few months ago. Still building the 9" and ordering parts and stuff.

FYI, any posi-unit you get out of a junkyard will likely need to have the clutch pack rebuilt prior to use. These things wear out, sometimes quickly depending how they're driven.

My 71 has a 9 inch rear with 4.11's and T-lock thats held up great and always burns up both

I got the setup from craiglist with aRebuilt T lock and used gears( good condition) 200$ shipped across a few states.I put it in and its worked flawlessly! heres proof:

Jon, you damn near lost it and were heading toward a light pole before you gained control. I think I would run that beautiful pony on a more safe friendly track. Nice burn out though.

When your inside it feels a hell of a lot more sideways then it looks from outside! and these giant tugboat sized steering wheels make it tougher to recover. i have a new grant wheen n hub... i just cant find a way to get the old wheel off( puller of some sort using 5/16 fine screws?) -Jon

Not sure I understand. Are you saying you have the original steering wheel and want a smaller wheel? What does the Grant have to do with your wheel?
