Uneducated Aussie here: is posi-traction the same as a Limited Slip Diff?

Actually "Posi" is a GM term, but it has pretty much become an industry standard term for a limited slip or "Traction-lock" (Ford term) rear end. If one wheel loses traction, power is transfered to the other one.

I don't have one, but it's on the list.

Years ago, I found a 69/70 Torino wagon in a small rural junk yard with a 8" 3.00:1 & t-lock. I think the pumpkin cost me $40, and I dropped it in my '66 coupe with no problems. I bought a new cable gear from the Ford dealer to correct the speedo (back when they stocked parts for classic Mustangs!). Very happy with the change, despite only being a slight improvement over the 2.80:1 open gears. Still spins both tires after 60K+ add'l miles...

I upgraded to a Granada 9" with discs but was an open dif. I added a trac-loc with 3.70 gears. I have not had it out yet, at the body shop, but I am sure I will be happy.
