bought a b&m stall converter, then installed it the same way as i did two other ones. car runs good, stalls to 3000 rpm like it should, but started to leak from the transmission pan. The gasket is about 1 yr. old so i replaced it and it still leaks. It's like it's pushing it past the gasket. What could i have done wrong? i filled the converter with 1 quart, put it on then spun it while pushingtill it engaged, transmission lined up fine, and the studs on the converter went all the way through the flywheel, so i didn't pull the converter into place. please help.
well, i found the problem it was the dipstick o-ring. But now i'm expericing a new problem. There's a vibration at 50mph and above. Anything below that there's none at all. Did a bit of research and checked some things. Starting at the front i checked the harmonic balancer. Whileinpark i brought the rpms to 4000 and no vibration. All bellhousing nuts are tight. All stall converter nuts are tight. Transmission crossmember and rubber mount look good. U-bolts on driveshaft are tight. It only happens at the stated speed. Today i put it in first gear and brought the rpms to 4000 which is about 35 mph and held it there for about 10 seconds then let off , then did it again and no vibration. Driveshaft was balanced with new u-joints installed not even a year ago. I read somewhere that a larger stall can sometimes relay a misfire, so i replaced the plug wires and plugs. The only other thing i can think of is the balance of the tires, but there was no problems before the converter. I also put on some sub-frame connectors and traction bars, but i don't see that causing a problem. This is very frustrating so any ideas will be great, and sorry about the long post. thanks
Why do you think the problem is mechanical?
Is it possible that you lost a wheel weight?
You might just have a tire out of balance.
Another thing that I have had cause a vibration like you discribe is a dragging brake.
but that is normally pretty bad vibration

i don't think it's a dragging brake cause i had that bout 3 months ago and completly rebuilt them with all new hardware. I'm not sure it's mechanical. i'm taking it to firestone tomorrow for the wheels and hope thats it. On my rims i don't have the tratitional weight that rides on the edge. It's flat and sticks to the inside of the rim. One of them moves around a little so it's possible one fell off.
got it aligned and rotated the tires along with balancing them and still have a vibration. It's not as bad but it's still there.I'm so close to getting 5 gallons of gas and a box of matches and having a bonfire.
