Default Installing Tri Y headers

65/289/Auto
Tried to install them last night, on the pass side they would not fit, tried from above and below, do I need to lift the engine on that side to get these in? or replace the motor mounts for a higher or lowerlift (1")? I think my motor mounts are stock. Any advise would be great.
Thanks

unbolt the 2 engine mounts under the the car. Jack up the engine as far as you can go without damaging anything. Be sure to use a block of wood. or something to pad against the engine when jacking it up. This will give you the room you need. The right side was easy, wait till you do the left side. When you go to do the left side, make sure you install the power steering drop down bracket first, if you have power steering. Do yourself a favor, when it is timeto install your exhaust, get someone to do it.

I'm about to install Tri Y headers on my '67 Coupe. Am I going to run in to the same issues?

67 had a bigger engine bay....you'll be fine i believe. ya sometimes you need to unbolt the engine mounts to raise the car up. also will/might need a lowering bracket for the p/s if you have it. seems like everyone needs one but i didn't

Shouldn't. I installed my Flowtech longtube headers with the motor bolted down no problem, just had to wiggle them up from the bottom of the car. It's a 67 coupe with a Windsor.

I had the same problem in my 66. Mine is because my shock towers are sagging. I was going to use those performance polyurethane motor mounts but they weren't working for some reason. So I switched back to the stock motor mounts and they helped just enough. I still had to jack the engine up to get the passenger side in. Now the header touches the shock tower and is burning the paint a little bit.

If you can, try installing a montecarlo bar before trying to put that header in. It might free up some more space since it will help spread the shock towers.

Here is how it looks now
