289 ID Help Needed
Trying to see if any of this photo of casting numbers can help identify what 1965 289 we have. Any/all help and insight would be greatly appreciated. It reads as follows: C5AE-9425 D / and above the 289 4 it looks like the stamping of a T or Y???
Thanks in advance for any assistance you can provide.

That's the intake manifold and by looking at the carburetor, you can tell if it's a 2 or 4 barrel manifold. As to the engine, the casting number is located above the starter (you got to remove the starter) with a date code possibily telling you just a little bit more (rev maybe). If it still exist, there may be an aluminum tag attached to the intake manifold that gives even more info.

Yeah, you can use that information I gave you to break down any part on the engine to include the block. Take your starter out and copy down that number that is on the block. Either give that number to us, or use the information I gave you to decifer which 289 you have. The problem with identifying parts, is that those parts may have been changed out over the years, so your best bet is to decifer the block casting number.
