timelockmind, thats about what I was thinking. And most of the time a pic of a car makes it look better then it really is. Well the pics of this mustangdoes notdo in justise. It looks better in real life then the pics show. Not sure what to do with a car that is so clean on the undercarrage?? Its hard enough to keep the paint and inside clean. I NEED A CAR LIFT FOR MY GARAGE

Werent GT's 4 speeds and only a handful auto's im certain on this.If this is the case and it is a GT with and auto its very rare.i saw a movie on it.One of the My Classic Car videos.
Actually, it's the other way around. More auto's were put into them than 4-speeds.

I dont see anything that shows the car not being a GT. Looks great, Great Find, Im jealous, and i hate you. Super sweet car dude.

BTW My dad had a 65 Hipo stang with a 3 speed manual. I had always thought only 4 speeds went with them too, til he told me that.

No, repeat, no High Performance 289 was factory equipped with a 3 speed manual transmission. That's for all models and all 5 years.

I got these pictures off e-bay about a year ago. These are 64-66 dual exhaust frame rails cut out from a Mustang. They show the crush plates/spacer in the rail where the exhaust bracket attach with a thru bolt. The first is a shot from the rear showing the shackle sleeve, then the crush plate and then the transport tie down spacer. The second shot shows the same arrangement from right to left with the two smaller exhaust plates and thetwo tie down spacers. The assembly line tooling hole is hidden in the shadow in front of the exhaust pair. All 'K' code Mustangs, all GT Mustangs and all 'A' code Mustang with factory dual exhausts had this setup. No 'C' code or I-6 cylinder cars had this. The e-bay seller was selling these so someone could fake a GT.

I'm sorry you can't drive that cherry GT. Looks like a trailer queen to me. You will lose 10 grand the moment those exhaust manifolds get hot. Too bad......

Actually, in 64 Ford used T-10 transmissions in 289 HP cars. I blew the 2nd gear syncros about two times a year so I know them well.
