keep losing alternator belts

TY DS, yes the ribbed belts, although not a good pic, are preferable. Especially for high speed as they tend to flex. I would take out the alternator and take it to a parts place and see if they can replicate your problem. You may even have a bearing burned out in your alterntor which is causing a flopping. [:@]

lol - all in due time....I put all my money into the drive train for now. I'll paint those bolts nice and blacks one of these days.
As for the belts...go to NAPA and ask for a better belt.
If you look really close at the pictures posted you will see:
1. in my first photo the fan belts has a smooth backside.
2. in soaring's photo the fan belts has a ribbed backside. The ribbed backside is the kind to get and is designed for higher RPM applications.

yes they do there a race pulley..question....why haven't you replace those rusty *** bolts with stainless steel....they paint is to nice looking for those bolts..just my 3 cents worth
