Looks good - Back in the 70's wish I would knew about this looks better than the garage paint job my girlfriends one eye'd cousin did.

17 coats, did you color sand in between all those coats? How many hours of work did it take to get it to that stage? It doesn't look to bad in the pictures, but it sounds like a lot work and time. I've painted a few cars and it seems like you could have had a kick a$$ paint job, (yes more money, but less time) if you would have used automotive paint instead. IMO

ya in retrospect i probably should have used auto paint but oh well...live and learn i guess. it turned out good and i have lots of free time anyways. but i did wetsand between every coat and it probably took about 2-hrs a coat if i worked fast.

Hey, for a measly $130 you cannot friggin' beat that, simple as that, a great and inexpensive way to paint your ride especially if you are short on money, and it looks really good, I'm impressed.

I have everything set up to go with the Rustoleum roll painting technique myself, I'm waiting for the weather to get a bit warmer, but I'm gonna tackle the very same thing.

Kudos to you, it paid off, I like the finished product, especially for $130, amazing.

Just a note, but I am finishing the paint with a Meguir's glazing compound. It is less abrasive than the polishing compound and gives the paint the smoothest surface you have ever seen. I use an orbital polisher and a synthetic sheep wool bonnet to go over the paint.

Great Job!! I love it when guys do it themselves instead of paying some restoration facility to do the work....

ok guys...here they are. i still need to do some more polishing but that can wait for another day. overall i am very impressed with my results. i have gotten countless compliments from my neighbors. my uncle even came over today (he is alsoa mustang guy) and said its 100x better than what you would get at macco or some other $500 paint job and it cost me about $130 total for supplies including polisher and compounds. i am very satisfied and hope everyone else has as much if not more success than me.im actually waiting on some emblems and the grille to arrive so i still have some more stuff left.

maybe i am still somewhat new at this, but i have to be sure i am reading this right. You actually painted your car with a roller?? I see the pictures, and it looks good, but i can't see painting the car with a roller. I would like to see close ups if you could get some. I find this really odd.
