Default Header tube size

Is there a quantifiable difference in 1 1/2" header diameter vs. a 1 5/8" header pipe diameter? I am going to buy some shorty headers (rack & ease) and want to know -should I go with the Ford Racing 1 5/8" headers or get JBA/Hedman at 1 1/2"?

I like the looks of the JBA's and Summit has them on sale for $331 and it has all the kit including reducers.....

Go with the ones on sale, the difference in tube width will not be noticable, it might jus be a difference in how the headers are measured. Besides, bigger is not always better,, when it comes to headers anyway!

Which JBA headers is Summit selling for $331? My JBAs were probably around twice that price (though they are ceramic coated). Either way, the JBAs are 1-5/8".

BTW, you get what you pay for with headers. Stick some JBAs next to some Hedmans and you'll see the difference. Whether that difference is worth the money is up to you.

I think JBA had the 1 5/8" headers and they were about twice the price (so I was wondering how much I wanted the 1/8"). I think I am going to get the Mallory HEI distributor at Summitto - $177

Oh, I see. Well, you can try the Patriot Ceramic coated shortys for about $300 I think. For some reason they wouldn't fit in mine even though they are supposed to, but maybe I got a bad set? Anyway, if they don't fit, Summit is good about taking them back. BTW, the Patriots are also 1-5/8".
