I beg to differ that rear speakers dont add quality.I run 6.5 components up front and 6x9 3 ways in the back,2 12's,headunit,and 2200 watts. The sound quality and depth of sounds is way better than with just one or the other like my friends 65.Its a good idea to run an extra battery or cap or both like i did.

Yeah, I am still running the generator. Would there be any way to run this system without having to worry about the generator?

I really like the way those subs and amp are mounted in the trunk, but I am worried that my 2 12" subs won't fit. Do you remember if there was any more clearance room to get 2 12"s in that same spot?

Rustycoupe - how did you mount that in the glovebox, and what kind of support do you have behind it to hold up the headunit? Do you have to have the glovebox open to change the channels and such, or is there a way you can get the remote to work with it closed?

I'm sorry but to even mention a cap means you have little to no expereince in quality car audio. If you read the information sticky in the car audio section it might help you get over the idea of a cap. Caps put more strain on your charging system, an additional battery or an optima would only help if the generator is strong enough to charge them both.

If rear speakers are so great, do you go to a concert and turn around, or do you face the band?

TO answer another question CDT comps will not directly fit any kick panels, but you should simply just have to add a spot for the tweeter. I believe that the kicks are pretyt shallow so you might look into the CDT's with the NEO magnets.

Yeah,
some times the old stuff works the best with less expense!!!! The music is secondary to the pleasure to drive a classic and have everyonne you drive by give you a honk, hoot, or thumbs up when you pass them!!!!!!

By the way....my generator is a 15 V and 30 amp.

Is this anywhere near strong enough to power 3 amps 2 subs a headunit and 4 speakers?

Simply put .... No.

Even the smallest of amps will consume around 20 amps and the HU will consume a couple and then you have the issue of lights, ignition etc....

I've still got the generator and I'm running a single amp (not too big though)plus head unit. Are you guys sayingI'm running the risk of damaging something?

MrMainEvent- I was going to start with making a metal bracket but it was too hard. I basically just used Mdf board and just ran with it. I got the dimensions of the hole (i dont have the cardboard insert and it never came with one) in the glovebox and basically made it to that size with a hole for the head unit. I made it (up and down) high enough so that it rests a little bit on the protruding metal from where the hinge mounts. I drilled holes in the side of the glovebox on the "tabs" and am running angle brackets to them. here are some pics
