Default Tie Rod dust boots

Hey Folks,

I'm replaceing my tie-rod dust boots this weekend. Do the tie-rods have stress on them? Is it safe for me to remove them while the car is on ramps or should I put it up on jackstands? Thanks for your help....Oh I have a 68 coupe with I6 if that makes a difference...

Jack stands, safer and will give you some elbow room. Plus removal of the wheels if necessary - more elbow room.
