hmmm, I need to look into this as well. My clothes always smell like gas after I drive mine.

My wife even calls it "the stinky car".

I knew it wasn't supposed to be that bad, but I figured it was mostly due to the lack of cats. Maybe I'll check the carb.

Nah, I don't have catbacks on my 65 and it doesn't smell like gas.

Your carb should bea Autolite 2100 - check at this website to compare pictures and to confirm it. If itis a 2100 then it isa VERY good 2 barrel carb.Check at this website to see if your carb looks like one of their 2100's. http://www.ponycarburetors.com/

I'd recommend keeping it and rebuilding it. A fellow on Ebay "Roefastford" sells rebuild kits for the 2100 that are nice quality.

I have a Autolite 4100 that I had rebuilt by Pony Carbs - looks fantastic, can't wait to turn the key on the motor soon.

I had this same problem - turned out to be an exhaust leak. Took the car to a local muffler shop, one hourand $60 later, no more gas smelling clothes.
