Default carburetor

need help with carburetor.

car is a 68 mustang.

intake manifold is C8AE date code 9J12, which is from a galaxie with a 9/12/69 build date

carb id tag is missing but has the folowing numbers 114 on fuel bowl and 7DR on base.

Purchased a carb rebuild kit from napa and rebuilt carb.

Currently on hard acceleration from stand still engins bogs and almost stalls, if i back off the engine recovers and goes smooth.

no problem if soft acceleration.

Also after driving for about 30 minutes the plugs are carbon fouled.

any ideas on the carb adjustments and what the carb is from.[/align]

I was going to guess the opposite and that the engine is fuel starved.I think Brandon is referring to the the 1.14 venturis. (I think mine is 1.09?)

Just in case it a fuel delivery problem, double check your float level to be sure it is high enough (the opposite problem of most of us!). If that checks out, buy a new fuel filter...especially if you haven't replaced that recently. The filter could be clogged. Lastly, check the fuel pressure from the pump.

I'm still betting there's a bottleneck somewhere in the fuel line and that is only noticeable when your demand for fuel is high (i.e. hard acceleration).

Good luck.

I'd guess fuel pressure and/or float setting.

Your black plugs indicate you are running rich. Lean it out a little and see if that helps.
