well 2 months ago, I'd have offered up to 6.5 k$ - now, having heard what you guys said and considering he still hasn't sold the car, I may take a more aggressive approach - we will see ...

I wouldn't pay more than $4,500 for it.... Specialy with no P/B,P/S or hood. And that's if it runs nice.

^^^^ $2K for a convertible? Nah!!!

To place a current value on it, figure it is worth at least $20K when finished and subtract out the cost to get it to that point. If he is asking $7600, that would give you a budget of $12,400 to get it done. Could you do it for that? I think you probably could if the driveline is truly in good shape. If you really want the car, try showing up with 65 $100 bills and see if he is a go. If not, pull another 5 of them out of your pocket. If he's been trying to sell it for 2-1/2 months, he may be more likely to meet your price. Oh yeah, this is assuming that the floorboards are not rusted out!!! If so, all bets are off as far as value.

No offense longlive289s, but 65/66 coupes are not a good benchmark for determining market value of 65/66 convertibles or fastbacks. I love the coupes too, but they're only worth about half what the other two body styles are.
x2 on everything

How long ago? Was there quite a bit of rust repairs to do? I bought my 68 vert almost 3 years ago from Idaho for $6,500. My car did not have any visible rust but ended up needing a new quarter panel due to shotty repairs from an accident. It looked very good initially but by the time I am said and done I will have about $10k in just the body work. Granted I am putting a fiberglass shelby trunk and tail lights so that adds about $1,500 to the job. Be prepared to spend just as much if not moreon body work, paint and purchasing things like the hood as you do for the car. I would say it was worth about $5,500 - $6,200 if I was going to buy it.

68EFIvert,I bought it about 3 months ago. It has some rust issues, but nothing horrible,or at least in my eyes. I'm putting a full one piece floor pan, torque boxes and full rockers lol. Everything else is solid.I'm doing all the labor myself,so only have a grand in all the metal.I'm never going to sell this one,soI won't even pencil in labor.I'm going to the local comm college and learn how to paint and will use the vert as my project.
