[align=left]I hate to say this but $180 is a good price. My base coat was $250 a gallon and the blue for the stripes was around $80qt.

I'm seriously thinking about having my car painted at Lanzini's (the place Foose sends his overhauls). The work that they do is is is... I can't even think of a word, but its great work.
They said a paint job starts around 6k if all of the body work is done.

Maybe its me, but spending a ton on paint seems crazy. I know that a lot of guys spend a ton of money on their cars and don't drive them much or at all. For me, these cars are meant to be driven and enjoyed-- a $15,000 paintjob would scare the sh-t out of me every time I drove it. Is a $15,000 3 times as good as a $5000 paint job? I would have no problem spending $5-7k on a very good paint job.... $10-15k on a great paint job seems unnecessary....

i got quoted $2000 from a body guy i know to paint my truck and i almost died....i cant believe its this expensive.
i'd try to get a friend of yours to help you do the work....we had my cousins husband help us and we got our paint for free from another famliy member. to get our stripes put on by another body guy my dad knows do it for a 30 pack of miller lite. the car always gets the "who painted it?" question at car shows and other places.

I got you all beat. My car was painted for $250. And it was actually a quality job that held up very well.
btw: it that was in 1977
for the most part, you get what you pay for. Maaco could probably paint any of our cars for $200, but it'll start peeling within the first 3mo. Generally it's hard to get a decent job for under $3000. The guys who are getting quote more are looking for more than "decent".
