Power brakes
I'm thinking (since I just got a big check in the mail
) that I might get power brakes. I have drums all the way around (inline 6) and I think I'm going to keep it that way. How much will power brakes actually help? I also have a dual master cylinder already in there, and I want to know how easy it is to switch that with a new one...will the rod change if I get the kit from Dallas Mustang, or somewhere similar? Thanks,
Stephen

Disc brakes will be more helpful. As would steel braided lines to replace the rubber hoses at the flex locations. Manual brakes can provide a lot of braking force, so the question would be if you have the strength to push the pedal hard enough. Of course, different bore sizes will help out as well. Keep it under an inch and it should be pretty easy to push. Larger than that and it starts to feel like you're pushing on a brick wall. Also, an adjustable prop valve will improve braking distance by simply giving you the proper brake balance.
Well I know - problem is, I don't really have the time or money (right now) to go to a disc setup. I know they will help stop the car quicker, but it's going to set me back at least 1500 or so in parts. But, if the power brakes do help enough to warrant spending 250-300 on the booster, then I might be up for that.
