Default Quick Wheel/Tire question

I'm considering a set of 16X7 4x114.3wheels with 205/40/16 tires. Does anyone see a problem with these fitting on my '65 coupe?

Thanks

Hey Bob, What's a 4x114.3 wheel? Can you tell us the wheel, the backspacing (in Inches), and ensure it's a 5 x 4.5" stud pattern.

This is a comparison between the 16" wheels you are suggesting and the 16's I'm running on my 65. As long as you go with a 16x7" wheel, with at least a 4" backspacing..you should be ok.

You know of course you're going to be riding on rubber bands. 3.23" tire height will look a bit odd.

Dimension
Tire A: 215/55 R 16
(25 x 8.46 x 16)
Tire B: 205/40 R 16
(22 x 8.07 x 16)
Difference

With that size tire I think you will be more than fine. Don't go with 225/55/ZR16 up front though. I have them mounted on Torque thrust II 16X7 rims with 4" backspacing and they're hitting the very front part of my fender. It's not a issue vertically but when I turn the tires left or right towards the inside of the fender they rub. I either need some smaller tires rims or rims with bigger backspacing and I like to keep the rims. This is a very expensive mistake. I'm wondering if a 205/55/ZR16 on the same rim will save me. Anybody have any ideas??????

I'm running TTIIs 16x7s with 4" BS on a 65. 215/55-16s and I don't have a front rub problem. The difference between 225s and 215s is about 1/4" in radius. I have almost 1" clearance to my front fender lip.

Take a look at your front end alignment. You may have significant shims pulling those front wheels forward.

I am running a 225/45/ZR17 on the front with no tire rub.

Not likely to be a problem getting them to physicallyfit.

But I see a huge problem with the load capacity of those little tires. Those tires are rated at only about 963 lbs, and a car of around 2900 lbs curb weight should be riding on tires with more like 1300 lbs rated capacity. That's a 205/55-16 tire . . .
