Front wheel clearance
New to this forum, hello
I just bought a 66 coupe and when I put the front wheels on, they both rub the front of the front fenders. I have 225/60/15 and according to the research they should fit. I have had the same combo on other 65-66 stangs with no problem.
Can you adjust the fore/aft position of the front wheels?
Thanks,
Brian

Hello.
Do they rub all of the time, or just when you're making a left/ right turn? Do they just do it in reverse? It probably will either be poorly fitted, cheap repop fenders or a strut rod problem of some sort, like bad bushings for example. Hope that helps.

What backspacing are you running on those? 225/60s on the front are pushing the limits. Did you drop the nose height? Also, did you install new disc brakes or something that may have widened your front track?

You can run that tall and fat tire, but your backspacing cannot exceed 3.75. Five bucks says you have 7" wheels with 4.25 or wider BS. Either the tires or the wheels have to go.

The problem then becomes if you go too far, you run the risk of hitting the upper arm. 15's can run 4.25 without any problems.

I think it's the other way around. You want to have backspacing greater than 3.75 in order to offset the wheel further into the wheelwell and miss the fender lip.
