yeh, she's a little worse for wear at the moment.
I bought it witha "new" engine. Turns out the guy fitted this huge winged sump with no baffles. I did 10 very gentle "getting to know you" laps at our local track before i spuna bearing. That was over 2 years ago.

Currently the gearbox is reconditioned and ready, the engine will be finished this week and the interior and wiring is in total pieces. I have remounted the race seat, bought a wild twin thermo alum radiator, an accumulator, a million other bits and pieces. It should be startup in about a month and, with 600hp, I cant wait

thanks andrew - good idea.
i know they have headers in the states that will do the job. the question is, are there any made locally to fit the right hand drive.

oo ya good questionthe right hand drive may be a problem, and i also think (if my opinion matters at all) that 1 5/8 is kinda small i know they taper out to a 2inch but 1 5/8 is a very common header for a 302.. and what afrs did you go with? i have a 415 and was thinkin of the 205's

good luck ,Josh

im pretty sure that 600hp will need more exhaust than those headers if you want it to reach its potential...maybe 2" pipes with a 3.5" collector would be more like it.

Josh
I'm not sure if the heads are 205 or 225, just that they are the race series. I wouldnt use either on a street engine as the rev range is too high.

JB, I am pretty much coming to that conclusion, just that the budget has been blown apart and I was hoping not to spend any more on the engine side as I desperately need some diff and suspension upgrades. The car will not be able to use the potential hp without improvements in other areas, so I am looking at maybe a bit of a compromise for the short term.

Is there any issue with having headers too small or just going to limit max potential?

IMO no downside to small(er) headers other than the max potential. I think these may do better than some people expect. There is a potential to move a lot of air through 8 1.5" tubes. + the air going through the 1.5" section will be at very high velocity, as it moves to the 2" section the gas will expand a bit and possibly help in "scavanging" gasses from the engine, much like a 2 stroke expansion pipe.... ??

yeh thats the idea with tri-y's - only it generally means improved fuel consumption in a street engine. Here it is aimed purely at improved torque.

if it isnt going to cause any harm, i will probably buy (or get a bud to make) an adapter plate to fit the existing headers and add some custom ones later.
