Upholstry gurus...i need help
When you finish the upholstrey your hands will ache. You need to get way down into the foam to make the connections. This is what gives the seat its profile once the vinyl is on. If you don't create the form the vinyl will never look taut. I did the seats in my 70 Mach1. High back buckets with the deluxe interior. What a chore it was trying to establish the recesses that make up the seat profile and the supports. But I kept at it and I did it. They look darn good in my opinion.
Forget those books. No offense Jim, I have wasted my money one them. To get your new foam and / or upholstery onto the wires, it does take a little brute force and at the same time using your other hand to "feel" where the prongs of the hogrings are and adjust as neccessary. Trust me, it isn't hard to do, I redid my entire upholstery BEFORE I wasted my money on those books or sending them out. Your results, IF you take your time will come out great, and you can say you did it all yourself!

Well, if you've done it before, I guess you don't need a book or picture, the one worth a thousand words. I thought I had a copy of one of the books I referred to for a picture but if I did, it's lost in my collection. But I did have a picture of the Ford assembly, so before (excuse me - BEFORE, your own word enhancement) you begin an assembly project, know what you are supposed to do. It's the old testosterone syndrome gone amuck, 'if in doubt, read the instructions'.

Obviously, the rear seat has to be out of the car in order to reupholster it.Get your body in the back seat area and straddle the hump while your knees are on the floor pan. Push back on the seat bottom then lift up. Once the bottom is out, you will see two screws on the bottom of the back part at the bottom. Unscredw those and remove the back of the seat.
so you cant get it out of the car??
well ours are different years but they should be the same to pull out of the car. just slide the bottom half forward and take that out then pull the top half up and it should come right out. to get the old stuff off i ripped the hog rings off with a huge pair of channel-locks and those worked really good. then just put the new stuff on the same way the old stuff came off.
i have no idea if what i just said makes sense so if you have any more questions just ask and if i cant help you then someone else surely can
edit: dang...soaring beat me to it
