Upholstry gurus...i need help
ok well i put on the rear seat upholstry and that was farily easy but im kind of at a loss about what to do with the front. its a sport seat conversion kit so i need to replace the foam and i cant figure out for the life of me how to attach the new stuff to the seats. i see the wires that im supposed to use but i cant get the hog rings around the wire and all the foam and still be able to use the pliers and attach it. what am i doing wrong??
You are not using enough finger muscle pressure to get the hog nosed pliars to hook up the hog nose rings. You have to use a lot of muscle to get those hog rings to clamp. What are you? A wimp we need to start another thread to expose you as a wimp?

lol yeah...im a wimp. acutally i just dont want to damage my seat foam by being too agressive. i was just out there for a half an hour trying to figure it out and i wanst making any progress so i came inside. i got the back stuff all done though
.
p.s. i know you were just joking about the wimp thing cuz if you werent then i would have to kick some old man **** and thati wouldntwant to have to do that

i havn't touched my upholstry yet so sorry man, can't help. But best of luck getting it done! Post pics of it when your through, I would be interested to see some pics of the sport seat conversion. I saw them being promoted on My Classic Car (i think) on speed.
I see where there is second book out on how to do interior stuff; there's the 'Mustang Interior Restoration' by Art Trantafello (NPD $17.95) and 'Automotive Upholstery' by Don Taylor (NPD $19.95). I know the first one is about Mustangs but if you are doing something beyond Ford seats, the second might be better.

thanks for the responses guys...i still cant figure it out though. my parents said that if i cant figure it out that they dont want me to ruin it so were going to have to take it somewhere [:'(].
hey just making sure, since you have the sport seat seat foam, you DID get the sport seat covers, not the normal seat covers correct? I'm sure u did, thats just the only thing I could think of that would make it difficult/impossible.
Try using a blowdryer or heatgun on the seat covers to make it more stretchy so you can get those rings on. Just be sure not to heat it up toooo much.
Good luck again man, hopefully you don'thave to take it somewhere, so much nicer doing it yourself and being able to say "ya I did that". I love saying that

your having trouble with the rear seat???
what part are you having problems with??
and yes it is the sport seat upholstry but thats not where my problems are...im having trouble attaching the foam to the seat frames.

Soaring is right, you need to use a little more force. Put the seat on a strong table or bench and pull on the rod in the foam while pushing with the hog ring pliers. I used a bench about waist level so I could lean on the pliers pretty hard. Good luck, you can do it.
