I agree with sporty stang about belts, also for people not wearing belts (US law) meant jag had to change the angle of the windscreen of the xk which made it not as nice looking. As for helmet laws for bikes I think that is ok but they must have an organdonor card.My doctor friend calls motor bike riders donors!! Ok course the classic joke about getting off a ticket follows: A guy has been restoring his stang for a few years now and he final gets it finished and goes for a drive, he is doing around 55mph and the car handles like a dream so he push on the loud peddle and is soon up to 120mph after 5 mins he see in his rear view the cops cherrys, so he pulls over. The cop says "I have been on your tail for for 5 miles before you pulled over so nowI have got 4 mins to my end of my shift if you can give me a valid and orginial reason why you were travelling at that speed" the guy thinks for second and replies "well officier 4 years ago my wife left me for another man and he was a copper and I thought you were him trying to bring her back!!" copper says "have a nice day"

Well I'm 45 and I've only gotten two speeding tickets in my entire life, not too bad, lol.

However, I did get a $250 ticket for driving in the carpool lane once, that one did hurt.

BTW, I always wear seat belts even if it's only for a few blocks, been doing it since I first got my driver's license.

I stayed as a patient at a nursing facility for an entire year (my situation was unrelated to cars, I was there for a different reason), but I met three quadriplegics there, all in their early twenties, one was shot in the neck, one was in a motorcycle accident, and the other went through his car's windshield, yes, he was not wearing seat belts. It was so sad, all three were recent patients and going through some tough physical therapy and were all extremeley depressed, all of then had catherers, and one had a colostomy bag because his colon was no longer functioning properly due to his injuries.

So please all you youngsters, WEAR A SEAT BELT.

Both tickets I ever got were complete bullcrap. Early in the morning I made a left turn and floored it. 1/4 mile down the road past a stop sign facing me is a Cop parked behind a pile of leaves and he's standing behind his car with his radar gun. Of course the second I see him I slow down to the speed limit. Make another left turn about a minute later at that point he was in his car and pulled out to make a right turn behind me. He followed me for 1/2 a mile before pulling me over on the highway.

Same cop a year later at 4AM on Christmas Eve Im doing 65 in a 45, just got off working a 16+ hour shift(s). He was apparently parked on the other side of the road, no lights on what so ever and he follows me for 1.5 miles. After the 45mph sign there is a 35mpg sign less than 100 feet before a street I have to turn on so I always slow down to 35 when I hit the sign. Anyways, I don't know theres anyone behind me until I goto make the turn and he turns on his headlights. He is so close to my rear that if Id have tapped my brakes he would have hit me. Well I continue on and then he decides to pull me over before a stop sign. I explain I just got off work, theres no one on the road and Im tired. He tells me to sit tight and if I feel tired find some place to sleep. I actually dozed off waiting for my ticket.

Not a pretty picture is it fellas?

There is a lot of wisdom to be gained from that paragraph. Buckle up.

+1. I don't see why people would have any problem with the law to buckle up. If you make the intelligent choice then it won't cost you anything. My friend made fun of me the other day because we got in my car to move it across the parking lot and I put my seat belt on. Obviously I didn't need it because we were only going like 100 yards at 5mph but it's just habit. Click it or Ticket guys

Well here is a ticket my brother ALMOST got once. His 2000 mustang has windows tinted way dark. So a cop pulls him over and says
cop: Your windows are tinted too dark.
bro: okay
cop: I'm going to let you off with a warning
bro: thank you
cop: but you have 2 options, either get new windows or don't drive this car
bro: okay
cop: next time I see you, if you still have the tinted windows ill give you a ticket
Bro: You'll have to catch me first

I know, my brother is an idiot.

I have always worn my seat belt. When I was a kid I got a ticket in a gas station parking while putting it on. The cop said it was because I was moving and that I was supposed to put it on beforee I move. OT. How many of you have friends that will sit in your cars and rather than click their belt they will hold it so it looks like they are wearing it?

yes- "Contempt of Cop" - you get all the tickets the officer can think of.... there are far more traffic laws / vehicle violations than you can imagine.

great idea to go out seeking to interact w/ the law, enjoy paying for the pleasure.

there's also : "Failure to do rightin a Do Right Zone" (sort of a 'catch-all')

seatbelts/helmet laws: if you can get the gov't to enact legislation that lets you sign a waiverof any public money, plus you pay unrealistically high health care insurance, plus you cannot have access to or otherwise tie up rescue equipment/personnel, and you are an organ donor - go for it. otherwise realize there are other people out there and you are part of society.

If your $hitty decision making skills will use up the diminishing pool ofresources available to save everyone else, then you forfeit your access to those resources.
