White convert. top question.
The white vinyl on my 73 has got discoloration of the rusty and grayish kind. I've used a convert. top cleaner from Eastwood and it whitened up the top in general but did nothing on the brown spots or the gray areas. Has anyone used anything harsher to clean the tops? It's in great shape. Hate to replace it. I've seen a black "dye" that restores black tops, but nothing for white. Thanks....
I like the Mothers top cleaner. Suds up a lot and does a great job, but I have not had "non-dirt" brown spots. It's about $8.00 and maybe worth a try.
I have read that those Arm & Hammer "Eraser" bars that you find in the cleaning section of stores do a great job on very tough spots.

Thanks. Nice car. OT, have you ever had water leak into the trunk? I replaced the rotten trunk weatherstripping and found a good deal of water after a wash. This is the first CV I've ever had and am wondering if there is something at the base of the top that is supposed to stop the water that runs between the top and the trunk.
I do not have anything that runs between the top and trunk edge.I get water in from the side vent glass and door glass. Luckily I do not have to wash the car much, I only drive it on sunny weekends.
Thanks, I figured there had to be some kind of drain setup. The trunk weatherstripping was shot when I got the car and there was a good deal of rust in the trunk. Replaced the WS and fixed the rust and gave it the first wash. Found a good quart of water. All on the right side. Maybe the drain is plugged on the R side. Bought some Meguiar"s heavy duty vinyl cleaner to try on the top. Need to solve the leak problem before I give that shot. Really appreciate the info, thanks again.
