Default RE: Oil Leak

We have had 4 thousand threads about carburetors. God, get me out of my misery with guys who think that just putting on a high cfm carburetor will net more power and fuel efficiency. Here once again....if you have a stock V8 engine that is a 289 or a 302, you do not need any bigger carburetor than a 480 cfm Motorcraft which is the 4100 that you can get in new condition from Ponycarbs. It is a bullet proof carb that will last you for years before you have to replace it. My 2100 is 12 years old and runs like a top. Now, if you heat up that engine, you may want to consider a slightly larger cfm carb like the 570, but it would take more than putting on a new intake and headers.

okay you are prolly completely right...and btw, my 289 has already got headers. The previous owner replaced the original 289 with a v-2 carb with a 4 barrel and headers

Sorry if I sound pissy. I don't know what that word means. It's just that we have had this same conversation a thousand times in the past year or so and it gets old. Try doing a search on the site before you ask a question on here. Afterall, if you read the rules of posting, that is the first thing that you will learn. I also have an extensive FAQ section for you to get any information you need.
