Default finding the right parts

i got a lead on a 67 coupe w/ a 289 straight 6 auto for $1000.00 ...went and took a look at it and it runs, but being that i am in Delaware, it has more then it's fair share of rust and from the looks of it even more bondo. i'm looking at a 90% rebuild for the most part, (yes i know it's a long process) but the most important part is finding a reputable dealer that has a large selection of sheetmetal parts to do this. does anyone know of any that are on the east coast? i'm going to have to start from the frame up and rebuild it a few pieces at a time, then transfer over parts as needed. i'm debating if it's even worth the investment, but when i think about how gas is going up a 289 sounds pretty damn good...any suggestions?

It's either a 289 V8, or it's a 200 inline 6 banger. If it is a 6 and is a rust bucket, you will never retrieve the amount of money you will have to pour into that car to come out on top.

Investment is the wrong word, especially for a rusty car. You are considering an expensive hobby. Most people never get all the $$ out of a car that they put in. For example the pervious owner of my car spent twice what I paid for the car. So = fun hobby - YES
Money maker - VERY VERY Rarely.
You should know this before you get started. One of the best pieces of advice you will ever get in the Mustang hobby is to buy the best (least rust) car you can afford. $1000 for something that needs $20000 (yes it can easily get that expensive) is not a bargin.

Don't expext to get high gas mileage from either motor with stock trans and rear gears. There are a couple of retailers not far from you. Try CJ Pony parts or Glaziers Mustang Barn. Both are in southeast PA.

Go shopping in the desert for your classic!!! For a little more money, you can get a lot less rust!
