Default Heater core ?

I have been dealing with a overheating problem on my 68. I think I fixed the problem but whenI took the car for a test drive I noticed a gurgling sound coming from the heater core (I think). It sounds like maybe the coolant is being restricted inside the heater core. Is this possible or is the noise Im hearing normal? Thanks

What did you do to 'fix' your overheat problem? You may just have air in your heater lines and it needs 'burping'.

I flushed out the system, replaced all hoses (upper, lower, bypass), put spring in lower hose and installed a new 180 degree thermostate. I then filled it with prestone 50, 50 mix with a bottle of water wetter. How do you get the air out of the system? Thanks

The 'messy' way is to loosenthe upper hose from the heater where it goes to the engine and let the air out. The 'messy' part is when the fluid starts to come out. You may have to remove the hose from the fitting, which makesan even more mess. I used to have a fitting from a back-flush kit (I think from Prestone) on the upper hose that did the job.

+1 You're looking for some way to let the air escape from the cooling system at the highest point. I had on of those backflush T's also in the past.

Using a pressure tester only compresses a trapped air bubble, you still need a way for the bubble to escape.
