Default 1966 Grill Question

On my 66 grill-it looks like "staggered brickwork"-is the whole grill suppose to be chrome or are any parts painted. Some one told me they thought the front edge is left chrome and the rest is painted black?

How about the grill molding?
mine is all chrome, but I saw a 64 and it was painted a silver grey on the flat part between the two raised lips.

Hope this makes sense-try to describe it my best
Thanks Scott

Theexposed part of the grill on a stock 66 is chrome, black is used on the 'corral' mountingbars and on the back. On a GT, the entire grill is painted semi-gloss black.
What you saw on the moulding is correct, the center is 'argent' which is Ford for sort of silver-gray.

Thanks Jim-let me get this straight-since mine is not a GT, leave the front of the grill alone, paint the back side black and the mounting bar for the pony blackFor the trim thepart should be painted argent.
Thanks Scott
