Please Help...1967 Mustang C
Okay I need some help people...

first things first...I bought a 67 mustang convertible about a month ago it runs good and everything. But its a 3spd and I want to change it to a automatic. The Mechanic I go to told me I would need the new tranny and a shift-kit. So my question on that since most of you know well about this...which auto tranny would be best..so far Ive heard the C6...andAOD... I would also like to know the price range for the tranny and the shift-kit and do any of you have any websites I can buy these parts from. It would help alot because my mechanic said all I need is the tranny and the shift-kit and he'll install it for me.

Also my cousin was mentioning putting a cobra jet engine in the car...? where do u stand on that? good or bad idea? possible not possible?...

Thanks alot for your time... It would help alot if u can provide websites.

Do what you want and what makes you happy. Remember if the car is in stock restorable condition it will be worth more in a stock condition and easier to resell than a modified condition. The C-6 is a good strong tranny. What do you plan to do with the car have hot rodding? daily driver? The C-4 is a good stock trans and is fairly strong. If you get a used tranny plan on having it rebuilt befor installing it. This is better to do now than installing it to find out that it needs reparing and then having to remove it. A shift kit will improve shifting and will cause a much firmer shift. Any parts store will carry them. If you want a performance built trans look into a TCI Trans or something like it. Try summit racing, jegs or paw> I like summit the best they stand by the products they sell. Remember when you change out trannys replace the torque converter and you may also need to replace the driveline or even have to have it shortened depending on the tranny you get.
The 428 CJ will fit my buddy has installed one in his 67 fastback it orginaly had a 390 big block so it was set up for a big block. If you do the engine swap to the 428 CJ go with the C-6 and beef up the front suspension biger springs ect. I also think you need to change the motor mounts.
