Restoration Complete - Pixs
Thanks for the compliments - it means a lot to me. I wanted a car the was really special, a car that I could eventually pass down to my son. This is it.
I fully realize that it will take years of appreciation (if ever) before my car will be equal in value to what I've put into it. But that's okay. I would rather have this Mustang than a new BMW vert, or a newLexus, or a Porsche.
The Mustang club is holding "Mustangs in the Park" onJune 24th at Woodely Park in Van Nuys, CA
I hope some of you will try and make it.Thre will be over 200 Mustangs there.... including mine.

The really interesting part of the car comes from all the stuff you can't see ... full body and roof dynamat, replacement of all internal drain hoses, cowl cleaning, buried monster cable for the stereo, Borla exhaust system, the replacment of almost every nut and screw, full interior bare metal detailing, welding reinforcement of 3-point seat belts, repainting the engine block blue (which you can no longer see!), all rubber seals replacement, custom weatherproof shields for the MB Quart door speakers etc, etc. etc.
I got really carried away with details but I feel you only do this thing once - like building a house.
Would I do it again? I don't know. I would be a lot easier, a lot less stressful, and a lot less expensive to buy a car already done to perfection.
For those of you doing - or have done - a full scale resotration, would you go through the process again?

I love Jame W's desciption of my car... "classic wrapper modified guts". In fact, I think that should be listed as a new car category
!I would really like to know how many others have taken this approach to their projects. I assume the majority but perhaps I'm wrong.

I agree that it may have been easier to buy a completed car, but building it is half the fun ... even if it doesn't always seem that way in the moment.

BTW, is there a website for the car show and/or what time does it run? I think my twins' are having their b-day party on Sunday so it may make it hard to make it ... their b-day that is.
