Show judging question
When restoring a car to original, does the actual color, interior all that have to match the data plate? for instance, my 66 came with standard interior. I want to put in the pony interior (when I get there!) and change the color to another 66 color. How does this affect judging, value etc...
I can tell you that color does not matter. Both of my dads vettes were different colors as was the interior on the red one. The red one was green w/ green and the silver one was maroon w/ black. I'm not sure how a new interior would effect but I can tell you color won't matter much
Now stop and think - the door data plate tells the people doing the judging what to expect. If the colors don't match the plate, you loose points. And to you imitation Corvette people, keep in mind that theyaremost picky in their judging - more **** than the real world - and they are closely followed by the antique crowd.
The rules for judging Mustangs are specific - the concourscar is as delivered from the factory. A daily driver is given some leway for items that are replaceable; tires, belts, battery even the radio. There are other classes in between.
And low and behold, there is a class for modified cars. Do you know what the criteria is for the modified class? It's worksmanship, detail, innovation, difficulty and level of the modification. Get the general idea - it boils down to 'class'. And if you have to ask about 'class' -

yeah class... ha! I totally respect the concours concept. it could send my obsessive nature in to overdrive! if only my wallet was that fat... but I want a daily driver with the ammenities i would want.
of course it matters! my dad has a number of all original numbers matching cars, thats his thing. some are national award winners. make the car look like it came off of the assembly line, markings and all. good luck.

, but even I rolled my eyes when reading this. The OP asks about retoring to original, which I presumed to mean its original factory condition and in the same sentence wanted to change the color and interior.
normal car show it dont depends on how much a mustang nut the judge is. a concours they are looking for things wrong and out of place so wrong color even tho its a factory color if it dont match the door tag end of story to them.
